Remarks: Cosmarium auriculatum appears to be a variable species of which several taxa have been described. Specimen 2012080-012 is somewhat similar to the nominate variety, specimen 2014004-004 matches well with Cosmarium subauriculatum West et G.S. West (in West & G.S. West 1895).
